An Innovative Solution for Hybrid Implants
StrandPort Pre-Loaded™ (SPPL) is an innovative kit designed to offer a practical and useful solution for hybrid implants. SPPL consists of low dose rate prostate brachytherapy sources encapsulated in a synthetic bioabsorbable polymer and pre-loaded in the StrandPort™ device. The custom strands can be from 1.5 to 6.0 centimeters in length and can accommodate any conceivable loading pattern including standard spacing, special loads, urethral sparing, optimized spacing, back-to-back (consecutive) seeds, baseline loading, or any combination thereof. Extra spacers can be provided to reconstruct loads intra-operatively.
The StrandPort device attaches easily to the hub of an Applicator Technique needle, allowing strands to be used around the periphery of the gland in an Applicator implant. Each SPPL Kit comes with extended length stylets, allowing strands to be conveniently implanted through the StrandPort and Applicator Technique needle in a single step.
Each StrandPort is shielded by a stainless steel sleeve that is easily retracted to visually verify strand loading patterns. The SPPL Kit also includes a radiograph verifying strand loading patterns and a choice of 17 or 18 gauge Applicator Technique needles in separate, sterile pouches.
SPPL is also available with echogenic strands as Echo StrandPort Pre-Loaded™ (ESPPL).
