Loose Seed Spacers – Brachytherapy’s Original Synthetic Spacer
Loose seed spacers are made from synthetic bioabsorbable polymers as used in BrachySciences’ portfolio of strand products. The spacers are absorbed via enzymatic reaction over 180 to 220 days.
In addition to being provided as a component in loose-loaded Pre-Loaded kits, spacers are available in sterile packs for use with Real-Time kits. Sterile packs are offered in lengths of 5.5 millimeters (50 or 150 count) for standard loads and 1.0 centimeters (30 count) for special loads. 5.0 centimeter lengths (5 count), are also available for cutting in the construction of custom or optimized loads.
Applicator Technique Needles – For Use with the Mick Applicator
Applicator Needles are available in both 17 and 18 gauge and feature a five millimeter etch pattern on their surface to aid in depth measurement. Sterile packs are provided in quantities of one or five or in boxes of twenty-five.
StrandPort™ – An Innovative Solution for Hybrid Implants
The StrandPort™ device reaffirms BrachySciences’ commitment to providing innovative solutions for low dose rate prostate brachytherapy implants. Designed to easily attach to the hub of an Applicator needle, StrandPort allows strands (purchased separately) to be used around the periphery of the gland in an Applicator implant. StrandPort is provided with an extended length stylet, allowing strands to be conveniently implanted through the StrandPort and Applicator Technique needle in a single step. StrandPort comes with a stainless steel sleeve for shielding. Sterile packs are provided in quantities of one or five.
SeedLock3™ – The Most Widely Used Pre-Plugged Needle
for Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy
SeedLock3™ is the third generation of brachytherapy’s original and premier pre-plugged needle. Its unique, proprietary design and manufacturing process set it apart from any other needle on the market.
SeedLock3™ features a synthetic bioabsorbable plug comprised of a proprietary blend of polyglycolic acid (PGA) and polycaprolactone (PCL). The plug is absorbed over 60 to 90 days through enzymatic reaction. The SeedLock3™ plug is a constant 1.5 millimeters in length and is consistent in its position, ensuring the first seed is always five millimeters from the needle tip. The plug also features a consistent push-out force, resulting in a perceptible “pop” indicating plug displacement and ensuring smooth expulsion of the needle load.
Upon piercing the perineum, the steerable SeedLock3™ is designed to create a flap rather than coring the tissue, thus reducing trauma, bleeding, edema, and leaving no tissue deposits in the gland. The needle hub is produced from an exclusive electrostatic dissipating (ESD) material that actively removes static from seeds, spacers, and strands.
Each SeedLock3™ also features a vented stylet, which equalizes pressure and eliminates unwanted seed displacement from vacuum phenomena. The included Grip Clip secures stylet positioning by attaching to the needle hub and ensures against accidental plug displacement.
SeedLock3™ is an 18 gauge, 20 centimeter length needle and is available with either round
or square hubs. Sterile packs are provided in quantities of one or five or in boxes of fifty.
